Jason Austin & Jim Sheridan at Renata's Café Italiano

As often happens in Orange, what began as a connection brought Jim Sheridan (right) and his husband, Jason Austin, back for good.  In 2011, the couple ran a stall at the Orange Circle Antique Mall with their son and daughter, and in April 2024, returned to purchase a 1925 California bungalow just two blocks outside Old Towne.

That earlier connection made the move an easy choice.  “We were familiar with Orange and wanted something architecturally significant in a walkable area,” says Sheridan.  “We’ve always loved antiques and enjoy shopping vintage stores and estate sales, so when we found our historic bungalow, it was a perfect fit.  We also love having a large backyard.”

Originally from Massachusetts and a longtime Fountain Valley resident, Sheridan says Orange is unique.  “We love the vibe here, which is very different from newer suburbs.  Our neighbors are friendly, and we enjoy chatting from our front porch.  We also walk to the Plaza weekly to try new restaurants.”

Sheridan chose to use his coupon at Renata’s Café Italiano.  “The food is fantastic, and the wait staff are great.  My favorite is the “Penne Sinatra,” and Jason enjoys the “Chicken Versaci”—perfect with a bottle of wine on the patio.”
